Communication between School and Parents |
It is the school’s aim to have clear open channels of communication for parents.
A monthly newsletter is produced which keeps parents informed of all events in school relating to that period. This is generally distributed on the first Friday of each month. A copy is posted on the school notice board adjacent to the gates and regularly added to the Web site.
Curriculum newsletters for each year group are distributed half-termly.
The parents association publicise all events via letter.
The Headteacher, Mrs Body, is available each morning from 8.40am – 8.50am in the school yard to answer parents queries. Additionally more extensive and private interviews with the Headteacher may be arranged at this time or via letter or telephone. Communication can also be made via fax and e-mail.
Teaching staff are available for a brief exchange of information, or to arrange a more lengthy meeting, at 8.50am., and again at 3.15pm.
The Senior Mid Day Supervisor, Miss Hayes, is also available in the school Yard at 8.40am and will deal with any concerns regarding lunch-time.
There are three formal parent-teacher meetings through the year but additional individual interviews can be arranged to discuss pupil’s progress or behaviour, if necessary, via letter or telephone. Dates for these meetings are circulated via the Newsletter.
Parents are asked to consider no matter or concern too small to be referred to staff. It is only with full understanding and information that parents will feel confident that school is doing its best for their child. Please do not hesitate to speak to the Head Teacher, Mrs Body, or approach the class teachers at the beginning and end of the day.
Parents Suggestion and Opinions
The School Post Box affixed to the main gate may be used a s a suggestion box for parent’s ideas and suggestions. We do carry out questionnaires from time to time to canvas opinion and evaluate our performance but also encourage parental comment either in person or, if preferred, anonymously through the suggestion box
Workshops for parents are arranged covering many aspects of the curriculum and health issues. Parents are invited in to school regularly to join in celebrations and pupil presentations. Volunteer parents are warmly welcomed supporting staff in many ways and enriching the programme of activities on offer for children. For current information see Newsletter.
