New children coming into the school maybe given a medical examination by the school nurse. Hearing and vision are tested and follow up checks take place. Hearing, vision and speech difficulties can be referred to the necessary agencies through school.
The School Nurse makes regular visits to school and can be contacted for home visits. In addition the School Nurse gives a talk on health issues early in the Autumn term. All parents are welcome to attend.
The dental officer offers a check for children.
Children will undertake screening for both vision and hearing during their time in school, parents/teachers may request checks prior to class screening if there are concerns.
